TO MY MOTHER IN LAW

Dear mama, I don’t know you yet,
And I haven’t met your daughter,

But I saw you in my dreams,

And my heart was beating with joy,

Faster than a greyhound winning the race.

For nine months she settled in your womb,

You whispered to your unborn daughter your sweet voice of hope,

Though she didn’t have ears to hear or open eyes to see your beautiful face,

You were excited that one day you’ll finally meet her and hold her in your arms until she doesn’t need it anymore.

Sleeplessly you fought to raise your children,

Deep inside you, there were bloody tears,

But I saw the smile on your thin face,

Your eyes shone as brightly as the sunshine,

Your love is like a fragile flower opening to the warmth of spring.

Like a lion in the jungle, you roared to protect your children,

You might go unnoticed and nobody may know your name but you’re my hero,

Until we meet dear mother in law; but for now Stay safe.
